Arizona Biltmore, LXR Hotels and Resorts Review

Arizona Biltmore, LXR Hotels and Resorts

My wife and I had a staycation in January 2026. The Arizona Biltmore, LXR Hotels and Resorts is a luxury hotel in Phoenix. It is famous for being designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and it has hosted numerous celebrities and presidents over the years.

Booking:

I booked a base “Resort King” room through American Express’ Fine Hotels and Resorts program, which I will discuss in detail in another post. This program provides benefits such as 12:00 p.m. check in, 4:00 p.m. check out, a room upgrade, a $100 property credit, and free breakfast. The room cost just under $300 for the night.

Shortly after booking the room, I e-mailed the concierge and secured a room upgrade to a “Cottage Suite” and complimentary access to the hotel’s Citrus Club, which is a lounge offering high quality food and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Check in:

My wife and I arrived at the hotel at approximately 1:00 p.m. The early 12:00 p.m. check in provided by the Fine Hotels and Resorts booking is not guaranteed and based on availability, but luckily the hotel had a room available, and we were able to check in when we arrived.

Room:

The Cottage Suites are located in the center of the property and have either a canal view or a view of the adults only pool. Our suite had a pool view. The suite is fairly large and has a living area that is separate from the bed. The suite also has a large full bathroom with a very large shower and a separate half bathroom off the living area, which is also very large. The suite has two patios, one off the bedroom and one off the living area. The patio off the living area has a gas fire pit and a sofa and chairs.

The bath products at the hotel are its own branded products from the spa, the Tierra Luna spa.

The best part about the suite for us was it was the exact same suite we stayed in when we got married almost a year earlier! My wife had used the room to get ready with family and friends when we got married, and it was very nostalgic being in the same room.

Food:

During our stay, we ate at both restaurants at the hotel. Renata’s Hearth is a Latin inspired restaurant. We had dinner at this restaurant. We split Chilean sea bass and ceviche. The Sea Bass was very good, but the ceviche and house made chips were only average.

We went next door to McArthur’s, which is the hotel’s American style restaurant, for dessert. We had a s’more ice cream sundae, which was delicious.

The following morning for breakfast, we went back to McArthur’s, which is where the hotel serves breakfast. My wife ordered an omelet, and I had a breakfast sandwich. Both were very good.

We also had lunch and snacks at the Citrus Club. The lunch options included sandwiches, meats and cheeses, salads, and soup. The snack options included chips and cookies. The Citrus Club also had a large selection of drinks, including sodas, water, tea, beer, wine, and liquor.

Amenities:

The Arizona Biltmore, LXR Hotels and Resorts is loaded with amenities. As previously noted, we were given complimentary access to the Citrus Club, which is a private lounge with food and drinks served throughout the day. This lounge typically has a $150 per person per night fee.

The Citrus Club is very nice. It has both indoor and outdoor seating, and the outdoor seating has numerous gas fire pits to sit next to. Inside is a large variety of books and games guests can choose to use. There is also a guitar available for guests to play.

All food and beverages in the Citrus Club are complimentary for guests who have access to the club.

The hotel also has bicycles available for guests. The first hour is free, and the hotel charges $15 per hour for each additional hour. My wife and I rented bicycles our first day at the hotel and rode around the Biltmore and Arcadia neighborhoods, which are affluent neighborhoods with large custom built homes near the hotel.

As is typical with most luxury hotels like this, there is also a spa and work out facility. We had planned on doing the spa on our second day at the hotel, but we decided to relax in our room instead.

The hotel gym is one of the largest hotel gyms I have seen. It has the typical assortment of machines offered at most hotels, but it also has a large selection of free weights including dumbbells and barbells as well as a functional fitness area. I did not go and see the gym until right before we were about to leave, and I regretted that decision.

The hotel also offers numerous pools, including an adults only pool in the center of the property. The hotel rooms are arranged among numerous buildings on property, and each of the buildings is centered around a courtyard containing pools for those specific rooms as well.

The hotel also has two golf courses. I did not get to play golf this stay, but I have played both courses multiple times. Both courses are usually in great condition. The Links Course is more challenging than the Estates Course, but both courses have their pros and cons.

Value:

The value of our stay was amazing. I spent approximately $350 out of pocket after receiving my credits for the initial booking and my statement credits for spending money using my Aspire and Surpass credit cards. The cash price for our stay would have been close to $2,600 for one night when our breakfast and dinner were added to the cost of the room and if factoring in the cash price for the Citrus Club.

That being said, I am not sure the cash price is worth the cost of the room without the credits or benefits I received. The common areas of the hotel do not feel as luxurious as other high end hotels I have stayed at. I would say the base rooms might be worth the $300 price point, especially if you have any sort of credits for spending at Hilton properties or free breakfast.

Overall Impression:

Our stay at this hotel was very nostalgic, having gotten married here less than one year earlier, and it made it even better that we stayed in the same room. The benefits I received through my Hilton status and the Fine Hotels and Resorts program greatly reduced my out of pocket cost for the one night stay. This was a great hotel for our one night staycation, and we will definitely consider staying here again in the future if the value is right.
